Over this weekend Milan’s SPRING/ SUMMER 2011 Fashion week took-off with DOLCE & Gabbana celebrating the brands 20th anniversary of their eponymous menswear brand.
The collection themed “Sicilian Sensuality” came to life on the catwalk with a live performance by the lovely Annie Lennox rendition of Whiter Shade of Pale, perfectly epitomizing the palette of white and beige, with chocolate and black for the season trends.
Needless to say, the selection of haute and sexy models hold high credibility with any D&G show; featuring Tony Ward & David Gandy, and a celebrity front-row with faces like Matthew McConaughey and Rachel Weisz.
Unlined jackets in sand and ivory linen were worn with corsair-style trousers, rolled-up at the ankle, tied at the waist with rope, and accessorized with peasants’ rope sandals.
Cream silk or cotton jackets, waistcoats and shorts were next summer’s answer to the three-piece suit. Blouson jackets came in lattice-weave suede in cappuccino shades, and toffee-coloured, towelling robes were worn with 1970’s, retro-look striped, belted trunks and jerseys.
The show ended with 53 models in sartorial black, single-breasted suites, in white shirts and skinny ties – glamour, caliber and the male dress code for smart and elegance remains timelessly chic.
