It is always a particular delight when really brilliant design is fused with fashion. Meet the “Mojito Shoe”, a creation of architect Julian Hakes. He says the design happened by complete accident as he was was attempting to figure out which parts of the shoe were needed to support and protect the foot. While wrapping tracing paper around his own foot to explore different design options, he realized that a shoe really only needs to support the heel and the ball of the foot.
And the name? The prototype resembled the spiral curl of lime found in a Mojito cocktail.
